On July 16th, 2018, Senator Rob Portman, Judge Heather Russell, CHANGE Court support staff, CHANGE Court graduates and current clients hosted an event for the program. Supporting community agencies such as The Crossroads Center, First Step Home and Talbert House attended. CHANGE Court (Changing Habits And Setting New Goals is Empowering), is a program designed to give victims of sex trafficking and those caught up in prostitution a chance to get clean, walk away with a clean record and rebuild their lives.

Many clients spoke about the positive effect it had in their lives. It has helped them turn their lives around from one of addiction and human trafficking to one of hope and a bright future.

Senator Portman has been very supportive of this effort and took the time to discuss the impact that CHANGE Court has made, not only on the people who have gone through this program but on their families it impacts.

"I appreciated the opportunity to visit with CHANGE Court participants and graduates. CHANGE Court is an outstanding program dedicated to providing both support and opportunities for victims of sex trafficking and those recovering from prostitution," said Portman. "In this country, in this century, our women and children should not be exposed to the trauma of being sold online. While I'm pleased that some of the sites hosting sex trafficking have shut down thanks to the positive impact of my bipartisan SESTA legislation, I will continue to work with my colleagues to combat this horrific crime in a bipartisan manner so that every man, woman, and child can reach their God-given potential." -Senator Rob Portman (July 16, 2018)

CHANGE Court is one of only three programs of this kind in the entire state of Ohio. Because of its success, Senator Portman believes that this program could be replicated across the state of Ohio and throughout our country.
