Once a quarter, The Crossroads Center gathers together to celebrate the accomplishments and milestones of our clients.  On March 10, we recognized ten graduates from our Residential Services Programs who completed the work required to transition into the next phase of their recovery.  Between Graduates and their families, Team Members from The Crossroads Center, current residents of our programs and several members of our community, including three judges, we had over 100 people in attendance.

Our program opened with a greeting from our CEO, Jamahal C. Boyd, Sr. who challenged our graduates to step boldly into this next phase of their lives. He challenged our current residents to "move to the other side of the room" by doing the work they need to do to complete their program.  He challenged The Crossroads Center Team Members to remember that EXCELLENCE is our standard and we treat every client like gold.  Finally, he challenged the community members in attendance to be a support system for those in need.

We were treated to several readings by current residents of The Crossroads Center and by our graduates as well as some powerful special music by Ms. Susan Shanks, a Therapist at The Crossroads Center.

Our Keynote speaker was retired judge and current candidate for Hamilton County Prosecutor, The Honorable Fanon Rucker.  Judge Rucker had three pieces of advice for our graduates and our residents:

Be careful with what you consume. Including the damaging words and images in social media, music and tv.

Surround yourself with people who will support you.  "Some people are sheep who need your leadership; some people are wolves who will destroy you; some people are shepherds who will help you - find more shepherds."

Do not let other people's ideas of where your life is going, determine where your life goes.  In other words, "never accept other people's ceilings on your life."

Judge Rucker's message was powerful, poignant and right on time for everyone in the room.

Graduation concluded with our Graduates sharing their stories of recovery and receiving their certificates.

The Crossroads Center knows that "what gets celebrated, gets repeated," so it is a vital part of our mission to take some time out to celebrate and congratulate our clients on the hard work of recovery and the milestones they are achieving.  Our next Graduation is scheduled for June 9, 2020, at 2 pm.  We hope that you will make it a priority to join us in this fantastic and touching event.
